My Daughter – Post-op Heart Surgery @ 1 Week, 1993
Compassion is an emotion that can easily be suppressed under the pressures of our daily duties, especially in health care, ironically. Those of us in non-clinical health care roles should make it a point to visit the patient floors regularly, in order to remind ourselves “why we do what we do”. This has often served me as a necessary reminder, and provoked continued compassion with my customers, whether they are clinicians, administration, or most importantly our patients.
